Infopoint: Connecting customers to services
Settings change, site operators’ duty of care doesn’t. Wherever the public passes through your doors, the onward journey is part of the visit and it deserves the same managed standard as everything inside. With an Infopoint help-point, your taxi service is managed for you to the same high standard and the additional buttons on the unit allow you to provide your customers and staff with access to services they want and need.

NHS locations served
in service when reception is unmanned, backed by daily checks
NHS & healthcare
Safe, accessible onward travel and support services across every site, supporting regulated health board and duty-of-care obligations. Help-points have been cited in Care Quality Commission inspection reports and carry help lines from taxis to emergency dentists, women’s aid, crisis support and more.
“We’ve got a better phone system and patients have got better access to taxis and other services like NHS 111 and PALS. The service is funded by the taxi firms, so it seems like it’s a win-win for everyone.”
Steven Moss · Facilities Services Manager, Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust
Shopping centres
A safe, local, vetted taxi service that protects visitors and the centre’s reputation, with live public transport information alongside council helplines and the centre management office all available on the help-point.
“The process was seamless. I was kept informed throughout and Infopoint found the perfect local business to partner with. This has offered our visitors a link to ourselves, the council, transport links, 111 and the Samaritans, giving everyone access to help 24/7.”
Krishna Phipps · Destination Manager, Colliers International (St George’s, Gravesend)
Councils
Free, direct lines to council and support services, taking pressure off busy reception desks or providing critical access to services at outreach sites.
“It’s like having another member of staff working 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The help-point has removed our front desk team’s time-consuming task of having to repeatedly give out other organisations’ telephone numbers to the steady stream of people who come in enquiring about non-police matters. Lots of enquiries need to be referred to one or more of our many partner organisations, social services, housing associations, health services or any of the host of others. Now our front desk staff can direct many of these visitors over to our free help-point at the front door. It’s not just a valuable extra service to the public, but it helps free up our own front desk staff to deal more quickly with real police business.”
Tricia Shillings · Divisional Business Manager · Cambridgeshire Police
Hotels & hospitality
A managed taxi service that protects guests and gives reception its time back. The safe option becomes the easy option and the informal deal at the door disappears.
“Six months ago we didn’t have any kind of formal arrangements with the taxi companies servicing our hotels. Now they’re all managed for us by Infopoint, giving us quality and governance. Simon and his team worked hard to make sure we have the right fit taxi provider for each hotel and were also able to negotiate better rates on account work, staff discounts and even a taxi marshal for our Holiday Inn in Gloucester during the Cheltenham Festival. I’ve recommended them to our other Regional Vice President of Operations in the business.”
Simon Bachelor · Vice President of Operations · Interstate Hotels
Education
A safe, local vetted taxi service for students, staff and visitors, day and night. One university gave over 21,000 students access to a licensed taxi operator and student support and help lines through 16 help-points across its campuses and halls.
“We felt it was important for students to be able to get in touch with vital University Services for free. Our system has links to the University Counselling Service, the University Disability, Financial and International Support Teams, the Accommodation Service, the Student Services Centre, the Student Doctor and the Health Advice Centre, the Hospital Sexual Health Clinic as well as NHS Direct, the Samaritans, National Rail Enquiries and lots of other useful services. The stainless steel unit looks great and we’re all very pleased with the service.”
Francisco Esteves · Vice-President, Activities & Services · Liverpool Guild of Students
Transport hubs
In service at bus, rail and coach stations, airports and ferry terminals. Licensed taxi bookings, tourist information, security and live public transport information at the help-point, providing information and onward travel options to every passenger, whatever their budget.
“Installation of the Infopoint help-point enables the Travel & Visitor Information Centre to provide a high level of information to the local community and visitors. Additionally, Infopoint allows additional out of hours information to be given, thereby meeting guidelines set out by VisitBritain.”
Rosemary Lavender · Tourism Manager · Warrington Borough Council
Licensed premises
A checked and contracted car at the door when people should not be driving and a record of the arrangement for the licensing authority.
“The tender process was very thorough and enabled us to gather lots of vital information about each company that applied. This included the number of vehicles, age of vehicles, how many executive cars in the fleet, distance from the casino, which taxi dispatch system was used and so on. We have been operational with the new service for a while now and everything is running very smoothly. We now have an improved service for all our clubs.”
Bea Stevens · General Manager · Aspers Casino Stratford
Taxis and what else? You choose what sits behind the buttons.
Every sector gets the same foundation: safe, local vetted and licensed operators under a written service-level agreement, a help-point with 97.38% uptime and a service that is installed, monitored and maintained by us. What changes is what sits behind the buttons. You choose the services featured on your help-points and you can change them at any time.
A hospital typically carries taxis, public transport information, NHS 111, patient advice and support helplines. A campus adds the students’ union, student services and confidential advice and help lines. A local authority site connects users to specific council departments, community and welfare services. Multiple help-points across a single site can each be programmed differently, so the help-point by the car park does a different job from the help-point at reception.
Where a taxi line is not needed, the same managed service is still available for a small monthly fee. One hospital trust used exactly that route to put a 24/7 crisis support help-point in its multi-storey car park after a formal risk assessment called for one.
The greatest benefits of Infopoint units are demonstrated through the sheer number and diversity of services made available on them in numerous different sectors nationwide.
Don’t worry – get in touch. Our first healthcare installation came from a facilities manager who saw a help-point at his local shopping centre and our first hotel site came from a general manager who spotted one in a casino and wanted one for his hotel lobby.
